Reader’s Choice Awards for Published Writers
Participation is open to all published authors of novel, novella, or short story length romance fiction.
Entries must have an original copyright and release date of January 2014 through December 2014.
All work must be the author’s original work.
Open to all romance categories, including erotic, but not erotica.
One entry per author.
Email entries of eBook PDF submissions only.
Entry titles must be traditional publishing or self-published.
A valid mailing address will be required to ship the award items.
An official entry form, paid entry fee, and jpeg cover must accompany each submission.
Due to not having reader judges for all romance categories, the Maple Leaf competition is open to Male/Female romances only. We apologize for the exclusion, but are following the judges' reading requests.
Competition Opens: March 1, 2015
Entry Deadline: March 29, 2015
Any entries received after this date will be unopened.
$10 for Trans Canada Romance Writers’ members.
$20 for non-Trans Canada Romance Writers.
Entry Fees to be processed through PayPal.
Category Favorites – Category winners will be the highest scoring entry in its category. There must be a minimum of three entries per romance category in order for additional judging to take place. If the minimum in a category is not reached, entries will not be eligible for the additional competition judging.
Readers Favorite – Cover, First Chapter, Hero, Heroine, Misty-Eyed Moment, Short Story.
The Maple Leaf Award competition will be judged and ranked by romance readers.
First place winner, second and third finalists, and category favorites will be notified June 2015.
Complete results will be announced on all TransCRW social media sites.
The first place winner will receive the Maple Leaf Award, certificate, and a full page advertisement in Still Moments Magazine.
The second and third place finalists, category favorites, and readers favorite will receive certificates and recognition awards.
All decisions are final.
Failure to comply with any of the competition rules may disqualify the entry.

Entry in the Maple Leaf Awards competition constitutes agreement by the author to conform to all competition rules, abide by the decision of the judges, and hold blameless the Trans Canada Romance Writers group, its coordinators, and all judges. In entering, the author agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Trans Canada Romance Writers, its officers, members, and all judges of the competition from liability for its/their actions arising from or relating to judging and handling of the entry and conducting, sponsoring and advertising the event. Trans Canada Romance Writers reserves the right to disqualify an entry if rules are not fully met.
