Maple Tree Award 2015

Welcome to the 2015 Maple Tree Award

The purpose of the Maple Tree Award is to inspire, motivate, and reward writers of romance fiction Short Stories.

Participation is open to all writers of romance fiction.
Short Story maximum word count 40k.
All work must be the writer’s original work that has not been contracted for publication.
Open to all romance categories, including erotic, but not erotica.
One entry per author.
Email entries of PDF submissions only.
A valid mailing address will be required to ship the award items.
An official entry form and paid entry fee must accompany each submission.

Competition Opens: September 1, 2015
Entry Deadline: September 30, 2015
Any entries received after this date will be unopened.

Entry Fee:
$10 for Trans Canada Romance Writers’ Silver members.
$20 for TransCRW Bronze members.
$20 for non-Trans Canada Romance Writers.
Entry Fees to be processed through PayPal.

Entry of Short Story:
Chapters must be professionally presented, double spaced, one inch margins, Times Roman font, and size 12. Page breaks must separate each chapter. The writer’s name must not appear anywhere on the document. Entry title must be included in the header.
Word Document (.doc) or Rich Text Format (.rtf) or PDF files only.
File to be saved as: MapleTreeAward.YourName.Title.
Email subject entered as: MapleSeedAward.YourName.Title.

The first round will be judged and ranked by romance readers, where the top three finalists will be selected.
The second round will be judged by Blue Ridge Literary Agency.

Top three finalists will be notified November 2015.
Winner will be announced December 2015.
Complete results will be announced on all TransCRW social media sites.

The first place winner will receive the Maple Tree Award and recognition certificate.
The second and third place finalists will receive recognition certificates.

All decisions are final.
Failure to comply with any of the competition rules may disqualify the entry.

Entry in the Maple Tree Awards competition constitutes agreement by the author to conform to all competition rules, abide by the decision of the judges, and hold blameless the Trans Canada Romance Writers group, its coordinators, and all judges. In entering, the author agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Trans Canada Romance Writers, its officers, members, and all judges of the competition from liability for its/their actions arising from or relating to judging and handling of the entry and conducting, sponsoring and advertising the event. Trans Canada Romance Writers reserves the right to disqualify an entry if rules are not fully met.

Blue Ridge Literary Agency
Dawn Dowdle is the Literary Agent of Blue Ridge Literary Agency, LLC (www.blueridgeagency.com) in Virginia, which she founded in 2009. Prior to establishing her agency, Dawn Dowdle was a freelance copy editor. She started her agency to help authors, especially new authors. She represents mysteries (including cozy mysteries), romances and some Young Adult.
